ABOUT THIS DOWNLOAD

  • Name: Firmware update V5.10 (#2400) for Canon EF to Micro Four Thirds Smart AdapterTM/Speed Booster®
  • Release date: 22 May 2026
  • Benefits and improvements:
    • Metabones is changing its Micro Four Thirds firmware release model to an odd/even-versioning system, where odd-numbered versions are Performance Releases for Mark II only, and even-numbered versions are Stable Releases for both Mark I and Mark II.
    • Support zoom speed control with Blackmagic + ATEM + Canon Cinema EOS Compact Servo (CN-E) lens.
    • With v4.11, the ability to toggle the option "Combine OIS and ES for Panasonic" by keeping the jog lever or push button depressed inward while turning on the camera was removed because some users disabled continuous video AF in this way by accident. From v4.11 to v5.00 Metabones App is the only way to change the said option. With v5.10, we are partially bringing back the ability to change this option in the field without a computer: if you have enabled these options in Metabones App beforehand, it is again possible to temporarily turn these options off by depressing the jog lever or push button inward while turning on the camera. Note that this is not remembered permanently but this procedure must be carried out again the next time the camera is powered up. However, if these options have been disabled in Metabones App there is no way to enable them again without a computer. This means it is always possible to enable continuous video AF without any computer, but it can be only disabled by running Metabones App, thereby minimizing the likelihood of mistake.
    • Fixed stability issue with manual lens EXIF function a.k.a. 'chip' emulation.
    • Mark II and CINE Smart Adapter only: additional PDAF improvement with selected lenses, by additional lens profile data that is specifically tailored for each lens. Visit our web site for a list of supported lenses. The LED turns pinkish white to indicate that your lens is supported. A white LED indicates that no matching lens profile is found but it will still operate at a slightly lower level of performance.
    • Mark II and CINE Smart Adapter only: Improved IBIS effectiveness for Sigma 28mm F1.4 Art 019 and Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM Art 013.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

Operating Systems

The latest version of the firmware update is compatible with most commonly-used versions of Microsoft Windows:

  • Windows® 10 1809 or newer (64-bit)
  • Windows® 11
  • Windows® 11 on Arm

A micro-USB cable is required to connect the Smart AdapterTM or Speed Booster® to the computer.

While performing the firmware update, don't disconnect the USB cable, otherwise, the adapter may become inoperable due to sudden disconnection. In most cases, an adapter made inoperable by an interrupted firmware update can be fixed by performing the firmware update again.

Don't connect the adapter to any camara or lens while performing the firmware update.
